Dr. Iftekhar Mannan was born in Tehran, Iran in 1978. His parents were scientists from Bangladesh working in Iran. He studied at St. Joseph High School and Dhaka College in Dhaka. He completed MBBS from Mymensingh Medical College in 2003. He trained in Dhaka Medical College Hospital in General Surgery and Plastic Surgery until 2010. During the training period he had opportunity to work with multiple visiting surgeons and developed a special interest in hand surgery. He received FCPS from Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons in January, 2012. He joined Popular Medical College as an Assistant Professor in September, 2012 and has been working to build a dependable plastic, reconstructive and hand surgery service ever since. In a day and age when plastic surgeons are drawn more towards the cosmetic aspect of plastic surgery, he focused on people’s sufferings which had motivated him to become a plastic surgeon.

Dr. Iftekhar Mannan is also a volunteer for ReSurge International, formerly known as Interplast, which is the first international humanitarian organization to provide free reconstructive surgery in developing countries. He is also member of Society of Surgeons of Bangladesh and Society of Plastic Surgeons of Bangladesh.
